Two different approaches to the EMR

Dragon Copilot is designed to connect with an organization's clinical systems. The features and integrations available to an individual clinician can depend on how the organization has configured and deployed it. Microsoft documents its supported integrations and deployment options in its Dragon Copilot documentation.

palmER does not require an EMR integration. You review the documentation, make any changes you want, and copy the final version into the chart. The same copy and paste works wherever you practice and whichever EMR you use.

The 90-day window and model training

Microsoft's published 90-day retention window is only part of the picture.

Microsoft states that Dragon Copilot retains audio, recognized text, transcripts, and flowsheet value data for up to 90 days. Microsoft also states that Dragon Copilot processes generated clinical documentation and collects clinician changes and the resulting signed documentation. Microsoft states that select customer data, including audio, transcripts, clinical documentation, and clinician corrections or additions, is copied to a designated Dragon Copilot research environment and anonymized within 90 days. The resulting anonymized data is used to improve Dragon Copilot, including its AI and machine-learning models. Microsoft's documentation does not state a deletion period for that resulting anonymized data and says anonymized data already created will not be purged if a patient later revokes consent. Healthcare organizations can also configure continuous export of Dragon Copilot transcripts, audio, and notes to Microsoft Fabric, creating a separate copy of that encounter data in the organization's Fabric environment. Microsoft documents this in Export data to Microsoft Fabric.
