Navigating palmEM AI
Master the palmEM AI mobile app interface and discover how to quickly access clinical guidelines, medications, pediatric dosing, and AI assistance during your shift.
palmEM AI is designed for one-handed use during hectic shifts. Everything you need is accessible within two taps, and the interface stays consistent whether you're on your phone or tablet. Here's how to navigate the app efficiently.
App Interface Overview
When you open palmEM AI, you'll see:
- Search Bar (top): Enter keywords, abbreviations, or phrases for instant results
- Top Tab Bar: Categories, Medications, and PediTape
- Bottom Tab Bar: Home, AI Reference, Bookmarks, and Search
The interface is clean and uncluttered because you don't have time to hunt through nested menus when a patient is coding.
Categories Tab
Your central hub for clinical content organized by body system and specialty.
The Categories tab contains emergency medicine content structured the way you think during patient evaluation - by presenting complaint and body system rather than alphabetically.
What you'll find:
- Clinical decision rules (PERC, Wells, HEART, Canadian C-spine, etc.)
- Evidence-based guidelines for common presentations
- Interactive medical calculators
- Treatment protocols and medication recommendations
- Clinical pearls and practice considerations
- Complete references for every recommendation
Tap any category to expand it, then select the specific topic you need. Everything is fully referenced with links to source literature.

Medications Tab
Quick access to dosing, contraindications, and administration guidelines for emergency medications.
The Medications tab is organized by clinical scenario rather than alphabetically - because when you need etomidate, you don't want to scroll through 50 other drugs.
Organized by use case:
- ACLS and PALS protocols
- RSI and airway medications
- Anaphylaxis and allergy management
- Toxicologic antidotes
- Antihypertensives and pressors
- Procedural sedation agents
- Psychiatric medications
- Anticonvulsants
- Local anesthetics
Each medication includes adult and pediatric dosing, indications, contraindications, side effects, and administration pearls.

PediTape
Weight-based pediatric dosing and equipment sizing for every emergency situation.
PediTape eliminates the guesswork from pediatric emergencies. Enter the child's weight and get instant access to appropriately dosed medications, correct equipment sizes, and vital sign parameters.
Included information:
- Age-appropriate vital sign ranges
- Equipment sizing (ET tubes, NG tubes, Foley catheters, etc.)
- Fluid and blood product dosing
- Airway management and RSI dosing
- Resuscitation medications (ACLS, PALS)
- Anaphylaxis and allergy treatment
- Asthma and croup protocols
- Procedural sedation dosing
- Seizure management
- And much more
Always Free
PediTape is completely free for all users - no subscription required. We believe critical pediatric dosing information should be accessible to every clinician caring for children.

Bottom Navigation Bar
Quick access to your most-used features:
- Home: Returns you to the Categories tab
- AI Reference: Ask clinical questions and get instant, evidence-based answers (learn more)
- Bookmarks: Access your saved topics for rapid reference
- Search: Search across all content in the app
Pro Tips for Efficient Navigation
- Use the search bar when you know what you're looking for - it's faster than browsing
- Bookmark frequently used topics for one-tap access during busy shifts
- Keep PediTape open in the background when managing pediatric patients
- Use the AI Reference for quick questions without leaving your workflow
The interface adapts to both iOS and Android platforms while maintaining the same intuitive layout across devices.
